Very pretty eight immortals rug size 70x28 gorgeous colors thrift store find. Not sure of exact age but can tell it is vintage.

Is it silk?
Im not sure it is very soft and silky so I assume yes Thank You racer!!
Actually i think it is wool??
It may possibly be a mix (wool warp, silk weft) but these rugs were normally silk.
It has a sheen like silk, for the weft pattern at least.
There are some tests but a simple one which might give you a better idea is to pull the rug across the weft and then the warp. Wool will move a bit, silk will not as it is not as elastic. Which is which? The warp is lengthways and the weft the pattern which is shuttled side to side.
