I love texture and organic forms, and when this Charles Lotton vase came up, I flipped over it and was fortunate enough to get it at auction. It was listed as circa 1978 but was inscribed "Lotton". I found it curious that a piece from that year wouldn't have his full name, which he was using by '78. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see it was dated 1974, which explained why it only had his last name. He didn't start using "Charles" until later when his sons started glassblowing and each needed to to identify their own work. So many things excite me about the vase; the lava, the veining, the texture, the ruby ground, the lipless rim, the colors and the form... I guess you can tell I love it!! It measures 6 1/4" h x 6" w and is in pristine condition.

Lovely Rick :)..... I'm always amazed at the actual size of these pieces. They seem quite small for the amount of work put into them, like little jewels.

Thanks so much for the positive comments and love Rose and Mac, it's appreciated.

@Mac... I love his work - especially ones with some sort of textured finish. Here's another I posted when I first joined CW: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/129362-david-lotton-vase

@Rose... I'm glad you explained your absence because I've been waiting to scold you! I'm sorry to hear about your diabetes... as a member of the "SWEET" club myself, I know it can be difficult to manage...

Rick you have some wonderful pieces of glass, the problem for me, is I don't have the space to start up a collection. I see some wonderful pieces, from lots of people. I do enjoy the listings.

Thanks so much Jean. I no longer have space either. I'm not much into having something tucked away without seeing it, so I have to sell something in order to make room for a new one.

@Rick55 -- agree, but then I feel that my glass is like *family* and hard to let them go.....LOL.....and can't kick them out. I have a hard time to part with some of my pieces.

      ~ ~ I think I need the "GLASS 12 Step Program"....LOL

Believe me Rosie, I went through the same thing. I saved everything - from my 70's clothes to my old worthless baseball cards. Closets, boxes, attic... all loaded with "treasures". It took Gloria a looong time to convince me that I wasn't really enjoying them if they were tucked away somewhere out of sight. It took me until step 8 before I was able to cut loose some of my "kids" lol.
