How old is the alligator purse?

I bought this purse at Goodwill for $2.00 and thought it looked old and might be collectible. Even thought twice if worthy of $2.00!

The purse measures: 11.5" L X 7" H X 3.75" W at base. The latch swivels with a little spring action. Thus pic of the bottom side of this latch.
The metal may be copper as green along edges. Alligator inside and out.
Just learned how to tell the difference online between alligator and crocodile skin ! (Interesting read, online).

So question is, "How old is this purse?"
Who would of carried a purse like this?
