When in Troy, MI., I also visited the Henry Ford Museum, and they had on display this 1952 Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
It was built by the Gerstenslager Company in Wooster, Ohio on a Dodge chassis.
It was the prototype for the Oscar Mayer's 1988 fleet that toured the U.S. promoting America's greatest loves - Cars & Hot Dogs.
Can you sing the Oscar Mayer song?
"I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Weiner?
That is what I truly wish to be?
Cause if I were a oscar mayer weiner?
    Everyone would be in love?
Oh everyone would be in love?
Everyone would be in love with me"

    Thanks for looking,
    Dave

Cool pw ! I thought maybe you bought it :-) I wonder what happened to that Jingle every kid knew ?

My dad worked on one of those once. Could have been that one although it was in LA. Little Oscar himself brought it in as he toured with the Weinermobile.

Manikin, I wish!! I remember seeing them in the 80's. I followed one across the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge once.
forteapache, did you get to ride in it?

This is "Very Cool", and brings back "Good Memories" for Me. I remember it coming thru our Trailer park in San Francisco, in the early to mid 1950's, and have not seen it since, until now. As I remember, they passed out little Wiener Whistles, to all us kids. Thanks for Sharing it!

Love the Henry Ford.... grew up in Michigan until we moved to Ohio :) I was there a couple years ago to see the Titanic exhibit. Great display of cars and yes the Weinermobile too !

I saw one of these in person in 2001, guy came to my shop looking for the guy I had doing exhaust work. It was cool, I wonder how many were made?

I haven't been able to find out the total number of these that were manufactured, but the link below says there are 8 in existance today, 6-full size & 2-mini size built on a mini-cooper chassis.

      PostCardCollector,
Can't just sing this jingle once!!
Kind of like the Lay's Potato Chip commercial, "Bet You Can't Just Eat One".
      Thanks for the appreciation.

Hi Dave, When I was young, the Oscar Mayer company used to tour their Weiner Mobile around to different locations such as grocery stores along with the small original actor in their commercials. You may notice I also saw a Futurliner you posted about many years later. I was able to see quite a few advertising items back when I lived in Ca.
