This is a huge cut glass bowl on stand from the Regency period. Cut all over with step cutting, hobnails, stars, leaves etc... it is of the highest quality of the time. It comes in two parts with the having a peg that fits into a socket in the top of the stand.
I have only been able to find 3 companies that might have made this stand, they being, Waterford of Ireland, or Blades or Pellatts of England. Apparently it was in the household goods of an American Senator, but I repatriated it to the UK when no one at the auction seemed to want it that badly. Maybe I am a sucker for the impractical.
It's a monster, but looks great if you having a dinner party.
