One thing I can tell you, is that the South Bend Watch Co. was in business from March 1902 to 1929. The Studebakers, brothers George & Clement, along with uncle John M. Studebaker bought the successful Columbus Watch Co. of Columbus, Ohio. When the Studebakers purchased it, the machinery, unfinished movements, parts & approximately 3/4 of the 150 employees moved to South Bend, Indiana.
The serial numbers for South Bend started at 380,501, where the Columbus serial numbers stopped and went to 1,240,000 at the end of production in 1929.
In order to give you more information, such as model/grade, number of jewels, approximate date of manufacture, etc., we need the serial number that is on the watch movement. Numbers on the case will not identify the watch, as most watch movements were sent to the jewelers and the customer would choose a case that he liked & would work for that movement & the jeweler would then case the watch for him.
Looking forward to seeing photos of the movement, the dial and case look terrific,

kimg, what are the markings on the case, the stamped markings, (not the scratched numbers if any)?
    17. kimg, 9 years ago
Dave, just posted pics of each cover
..is this what you were asking about? Also, what do they tell you?
    18. pw-collector pw-collector, 9 years ago
kimg, yes. The case was manufactured by the Keystone Watch Case Co. and is a J.Boss "14k gold filled" guaranteed 25 year, case, not "solid gold".
