My husband's grandfather was a Methodist chaplain stationed in Japan immediately following WWII, and brought this bowl home with him. We are guessing it is Imari, and find the "uneven seams" between the patterns to be really interesting, like two competing artists were working on it at the same time. The mark on the bottom is blurry and I can't even follow the lines to try to sketch it. The wear pattern on the bottom seems to indicate the bowl may have originally sat on a small base or pedestal. We'd love to have any pointers on when/where it might have come from. Also, it's so ornate... is it okay to use it gently or should it be strictly ornamental? Thank you!

Arita imari - mark looks like it is a Aoki Brothers Company (Aoki Kyodai-Shokai )mark but hard to tell with the angle of the picture.

Aoki Brothers marks were the closest I could find, too. Thanks!
