      Hi
      Try to find serial no: from backplate or somewhere in the movement.
      Thats how i date my german clocks.

      In a Roy Ehrhardt Clock Price Guide 1979 book I have, on page 59 showing Gilbert Clock Co.'s Mantel Clocks, it shows a "Owl". The clocks shown on this page are taken from a 1896 Lapp & Flershem Chicago, Ill. counter catalog.
      Your clock appears to be missing some wood decorative scroll work on the top.
      The link below shows on similar to the one in my book, except the glass design is different than in the book and what you have.
