A simple tale ... I came across a garage sale on my way to help my Mum move from her home of 65 years. I saw a few interesting pieces of pottery but then saw this little box. It looked interesting and it was the right price. I went off to do more packing of Mum's treasures and didn't look at the box again until I got home later that evening.
I noted the mark on the bottom and it rang some bells: 925 S and the mark .... underneath an impressed 6 (or 9?). The same number 6 impressed to the inside of the lid. Norway. It needed a good clean. Silver, vermeil, guilloché enamel ... a few hours later it shone. On the net I was able to pin-point the mark used by David-Andersen of Oslo, Norway around 1925.
It's a little beauty!
