This is another item I bought last night, the sellers photos. I also think this opal is from the White cliff mines in Australia, it shows lots of colour.Looking at the photo from the back the doublet seems to be domed which would make it a earlier piece. The opal is from the sellers description, 3ct opal, the face of the opal is 1.5 cm x 6.5mm. Yet again no marks on the silver but been tested.
It is a very simple designed ring with the opal being in a bezel setting, around the bezel at the back is a twisted rope wire , it looks very simple but affective. At each side of the opal is a three leave flower engraved in the middle. If anyone can give me a clue on the maker it would be great.
Many thanks for looking
Very nice ring and opal colors :-)
love opals ! nice find
Thank you Kyra and Manikin for your lovely comments.
I recall my mum had a very similar ring we bought from a local at White Cliffs when I was a kid. That's just my memory there though Jean and this may be different and older! The ring has been lost for many years I'm sorry to say.
