    Hi there:

I have 3 Nickels from 1947. They are the ones with the maple Leaf by the Dates. I know there is suppose to be something with the number of waves behind the beaver -- but when I look at them I do not see that much difference. Any one know about these? Any other info welcomed!!

    Thanks as always

Rose, first your nickel is not silver. The maple leaf after the date means that the coin was actually minted in 1948. The Canadian Mint was late getting their new dies so they altered the old die and kept cranking out the coins with the 1947 date. It is not rare.

Okay Thanks -- I have the darn-est things here from family stuff. Too much to all figure out. They will go back in the small coin purse they were in. Thanks for all the info !!
