While some manufacturers of the era in Germany and Czechoslovakia produced realistic animal figurines, others tended towards a more whimsical approach and often mimicked well-known canine cartoon characters like Bonzo, Tide (of Buster Brown fame) , or the dog from the Little Rascals.
