I love this teapot and it's the only one I own. i bought this at a yard sale and love this color, it looks like colors of a rainbow running through the green color. It is heavy ceramic and a very delicate piece. If anyone know's anything about this, it will be greately appreciated.

What a pretty Cameo teapot. My first thought is Scafer and Vater Jasperware, but I think that is usually matte finish, not a lustre-finish (hence the rainbow). This may be a Japan version.

O wow, MsDow...LOL....thank you so much for your comment. I didn't know about the name lustre finish and i couldn't find anything like this one to even begin to put a value on it. I didn't know Japan made thing's like this, it doesn't even look like it would be Japanian. Again thank you for your comment.

I agree with MsDow - definitely a Japanese knock-off. Japan imitated almost every Western design; they don't look "Oriental". One way to tell it's not an original: the glaze is very thick & obscures the carvings. It also has that luster glaze that are associated with many Japanese products. No mark on the bottom doesn't mean it wasn't "made in Japan"; imports often just had stickers. Another clue that it is definitely 20th century - the girl has a turned up nose. Those cute little noses didn't show up until after around 1910 - before that, the women's faces had straight noses. (same on regular cameo jewelry!)

Dragonmum, thank you for the comment...I didn't know that about the cute little noses. I also have some cameo jewelery that i will be looking at closely now, I just haven't put pictures of them on here yet. So maybe you can give me some information on them too when I get them on. I didn't get this one with a sticker on it but it would have been nice to have it.It is pretty and a great conversation piece. Thanks again...
