This is a vintage Coro brooch. I like the green foil-backed rhinestone. The brooch is in rather good condition but I believe that there could have been four small fake seed pearls at the corners. They are easy to replace.

The stones in the corners should be green to match the central stone. It's identical to the one I posted here recently (although mine is in pendant form and not gold tone - link below). I have seen one like yours in the gold colour with the stones to each corner. Mine is signed Jewelcraft, which is Coro (as I'm sure you know).

I think it would work either way, with green stones or the seed pearls, and if it were mine, I might go with the seed pearls. :)
