I am a bit stuck with a complete ID of this jug. It has all the hallmarks of a common jug made in Japan in the Taisho/early Showa era, around 1920.

The blue is correct for then, as is the unfinished pontil scar, but it is mainly the shape that leads to the early date.

These pitchers with the round belly, big base, duck shaped spout and twisted handle wrapped around the neck, seemed to have been a common household glass item in early 20th century Japan.

This one however shows little sign of wear and I have seen a similar item from Kitaichi Glass, so I doubt it is as old as it appears.

Interesting anyway. I think the handle design is clever - no way was the content weight going to risk it breaking away from the body!

its beautiful and I think they/someone copied this style in the 70's as I remember the pattern of glass or style of decor in many 1970's decors and styles...same with the colour..just gorgeous
