    I found this for $4 Canadian. It's about 4 grams of gold, a little over an inch, and looks late Victorian to me. I believe it is incomplete. I bought it even though I think there is something missing because I liked the colour and the shape.

      I don't think anything is missing. This a called a watch pin -- women would hang a watch from the hook and be able to see it by glancing down. Many of the watches had the numerals upside down so the wearer could see the time correctly. It is lovely! Here is an example of a watch pin with a miniature hanging from the hook:
