My dad had this beautiful hat in his "Hat Collection" and I just found it in the old homestead when our daughter moved out of the house. While it was probably too formal for Church I thought that a pix with the hat and Walking Stick would be a nice reminder of the more " formal days" of our Nations past. We came from the poor side of the tracks as my grandmother was a young widow during the depression with three sons & clothes like this were not worn in their family. Maybe not even in the entire town of Eden Texas where dad was raised as a boy.

Rattletrap, this an INCREDIBLE top hat. Can you tell me who the maker is? I'd love to see some close up shots of the hat. But, might I say you do look very dapper wearing it.

Based on the shape of the brim, this one would be from around the 1880's (possibly older) to very early 1900's. After that period, these hats tended to be made with much flatter brims. This one is beautiful!!!
My eye's are on that pot sitting on the mantel....

Thx for the love it and nice comments. Yep it's a Beaver! I wish someone would come and trap the Beaver that keeps visiting my moms house and cutting down her trees! I'd rather he'd become someone's hat. He takes peach trees as well as Aspen etc!

Thx for the love it. The Persian carpet is a wool carpet. I collect them. Thx for noticing it. Few people have an eye for the beautiful hand tied Persian carpets.

LOL I have a son that traps beaver rattletrap but usually to relocate not kill so I doubt he would become a new hat :-) And he lives in a town called Beaver Dam to boot !

Hmmmm? I wear jeans, cargo pants or shorts every day but Sunday's, when I get dressed up for Church as a symbol of respect and submission to a Greater Power than I. U ought to join me if u want. I am "stepping back", to the "pre 60s" every Sunday. Except for the hat, this pix is a regular Sunday event. :):)
