Trying to find some information on this large 1 3/4" by 1 1/4" Black Onyx pendant with 925 Sterling case that is marked LAR.IN. I'd also like to know what style this pendant would be and what the streaking design would represent. I'm also not sure about the age of the pendant. Any help appreciated, Thanks, RER(BOB)

That number looks like .825, not .925.
.825 is cutlery grade silver which was used in jewelry making in the late 1800s and early 1900s, which would correspond with the design of this beautiful pendant.

.825 is also the numerical code for 19K gold.

I would suggest taking the pendant to a jeweler for an acid test.

Think the stamp on the back is LAP not LAR - and the last initial is a questionable N.

Thanks Efesgirl! Looked it up under a loop and it certainly looks like it could be .825. The letters are LAR but the others look like a IH or IN and maybe a IM.
Thank you also Gillian for your comments and aura, GeodeJem, vetrai50 and kyratango for the loves. RER(BOB)

Hi Loumanal. Did you find any more information on your pendant? I haver found a set with pendant and earrings with the same stamp and exactly the same design, but it is not black but white. Finally do you know if 825 stands for gold or silver?
      Thanks

Hi Caroline! I think that it was 825 and as someone suggested it could have been jewelry/ cutlery grade silver of the time period...early 1900’s. I do not have this item anymore. Must be quite spectacular in white.
