Chance glass in the UK produced something similar but far cheaper and the quality wasn't there. They called their creations Hankerchief glass. and very similar in shape to what you have. You can create the effect with vinyl records by putting over a pot and placing in an oven.
Such a striking vase Melanie! Murano makes a similar vase called a Fazzoleto, which as you said, translates to handkerchief. I bought one some years back, and when it arrived, I was so disappointed. The only curio I had at the time opened from the side, and I couldn't fit it in, it was wider than the door!

When the candle flickers it really looks like the Northern Lights....just dreamy.
