This bubbly vase is very much an example of southern Japanese glass and comes from Ryukyu Glass Okinawa.

I can't always tell, but there is often quite a style distinction between glass from the south and north of Japan, possibly because they are culturally different.

Southern glass is often bubbled and for want of a better word, quirky.
The colour graduation here, the narrow cylinder, the intense colour, and the appendage, are "southern".

    What's the appendage for?
It may be a loop for hanging but probably not.
    A handle? Probably not.

    It just IS.

Maybe you could use this vase as a Bar Glass -- then the "appendage" could be used to hold a Straw for some Tropical Drink....Hiccup

Beautiful Karen! A tall drink with a lime on the rim?
