I somehow have the idea that this is from Sri Lanka. Maybe because of the gorgeous color of the amethyst. The stone has been faceted on the front and back and refracts light beautifully. I think if it was just a crystal, then there wouldn't be so much attention to detail.
Don't know if the mark is a "W" or something else. I haven't seen this particular style of ring mount before, either. I haven't yet found anything on the web.

Hi Elesgirl, I'm thinking more European, I've seen that Mark before, I'm online now trying to find it. By the way it's a beautiful ring.
I've been through the European silver marks nothing.
Jean - what do you make the mark out to be? Is it a letter or symbol?

Well what I'm seeing is 3 W the top one being more defined and then a line across the top.
Jean - I need stronger magnification, lol. I'll keep on searching, too.

AnnaB - it certainly was a find! There it was, just sitting on the table waiting to be bought. LOL This ring is one of my favorites.
