I found the WWI helmet at the home of a man who advertised a National Cash Register for sale. After buying the register I noticed this helmet in the garage & asked if it was also for sale. It belonged to his ex wife's grandfather and we quickly added it to the Museum Collection at aaaLakeside Storage in Provo. This unit is said to be the oldest Artillery Unit in the State of Utah and is related to the old Mormon Battalion. I'm not sure what the writing signifies other than his name and the date he wrote on the under side, but see him as another American hero who fought for freedom so that we can enjoy all that we have today. I thank him and every other American who has fought to keep America and the world free from oppression. Merry Christmas

Well, the insignia is for the 145th Artillery Regiment.

Thx for the love it and we would love to have u visit the Collection. I found another 1/2 track I'm dealing on, a Tank killer I'm hunting down, and on my way to Oregon to get a couple of signs and two gas pumps I bought there as well as pick up some stuff I've delt on in Idaho. Thx for the reminder. Merry Christmas. The helmet has the date of Dec 22, 1918 painted on the rim. Very sad Christmas in a fox hole.
