I've posted some of these before - beautiful signed Matisse-Renoir copper enamel bangles from the 1950's. They were made in 3 sizes: 1/4", 5/8" and 1" in red, navy, white, turquoise, brown, green with beautiful mottled 2 or 3 color enamels in some of them. Pictured here - a few have been restored because these tend to chip if they are banged around. (The 1" denim, both of the narrow green and the fabulous 5/8" red.)

Enameled earrings and necklaces don't have these same chipping problems as the domed bangles or other enamel panel bracelets. When I wear these I put 1/8" laquer, cinnabar or horn bangles between since they're made of softer materials and make a nice vintage buffer.

I'm surprised there isn't a category for Matisse, Renoir or other copper designers.

Thanks Ken - I love these too! Never were cheap after the thin red and turquoise. In fact these are the only ones I found in stores - rest online.

      Thanks aura for first love

Thanks to Mike, Kevin, Caper, Bonnie

Thanks Kyra - the repair work on the wide denim/pearly pink/orange is well done. The repair on the 2 thin green is Amazing! You don't even notice and the sellers were very honest. The repair on the wide red...sadly that's from me with red fingernail polish. It matches okay but every time I wear it some more enamel flakes off the edges. The 2 brown ones are perfect - bought separately and probably never worn.

You are so right about damage on Matisse bracelets - I have two like yours in mottled green and almost half of the enamel is gone. I'm saving those to practice "kyratizing" on them some day.

Thanks davy for your comments - Kyra's techniques would work. It's sad the enamel on these bracelets wants to chip. I guess I have a few chips too - I'm as old as they are!
