    Found this after my Dad passed this las fall.
    He was a Navy Pilot on an aircraft carrier.

    The letter is awesome and that sure was a lot of money back then.

    The Navy was great.These two sailer stood in the blazing heat for two hours.

      I really appreciate it.He was A good man but 94 is a long life.
      When your mind starts going and people have to take care of you.
      That is tough on a proud man.
      I personally think we keep people alive for our own benefit,not thinking about dignity and quality of life.

      What year? The letter isn't dated.

      The V-5 program started pre- WW2 (late 1930s), but based on content "V-5 for Victory" this dates from WW2.

      I am so sorry to read of your fathers passing and as you say we do things out of selfishness thinking we are doing what is best! have wonderful memories of your father by the sound of it, who was as you say, proud! and with that comes strength and that is what you will remember I am sure... this wonderful letter is just one of many...a very Happy New Year Gruff .....Penny...:-)
