I got this back in 6th grade for a project on what I wanted to be when I grew up (A paleontologist.)
It's a very nice and cute dragonfly, supposed to be circa late Cretaceous Period (65 MYA if you believe what science says.)
It appears to me, since no one else has given it nearly as much study as I, that some event occurred that killed it (and maybe what looks like the remains to another) when it was on some sort of reed plant.
On the back-bottom is what looks like fossilized algae colonies, thus telling me at some point the area was likely underwater for some time.
There are many layers to this sandstone piece, so who knows what else is trapped within it.

what did you wish to know about potters in the Dresden region? Do you know much about the origin of their work and how as in the same with the glass makers were dominated by the jewish community and hundreds of ppl were killed by the Nazis and others thrown off these businesses and taken over by the Nazi party to own and operate. And that the American government who took ownership or overlooked the ownership transfer to the unrightful owners post war. Yes the same jewish families who were murdered and slain under the Nazis are still being persecuted today and in courts because governments like the Americans think it's better to hand over to their corrupt companies because of a simple word like power?
So you posted a comment on my post because you thought I was some type of German supporter during the war? What did you mean by your comment? Maybe you don't like my post because my pottery is so pretty and worth a lot of money?
Just exactly what were you getting at? Could you explain?? I'll be interested to see as a fellow collector what you were meaning?

Seems to be a lot of stratification layers like you say. It seems to be showing a high iron content in several layers. This could indicate it was in an area where there was a disturbance in the surrounding bedrock area. Sometimes when this happens, iron rich ore minerals, and acid sulphates can leach out of cracks and fissures, and onto the sandstone in this case. This leaching can pollute a stream killing it's inhabitants in some instances. It's called yellow boy in most cases. I learned this from my placer mining studies which I'm heavily involved with. Your fossil could have been from one of the great oceanic rising periods.
