I think this might be Don Larsen's 1960 Kansas City Athletics batting practice jersey, but I have no way of authenticating that. Don was 6'4" 227lbs. and this jersey is a size 44 and fits me perfectly (I'm 6'3" 220 lbs.).

I have had trouble matching up the "A" logo on the front of the jersey, but I did find this exact "A" logo on a pair of team issued satin jackets. Nonetheless, I love this jersey and wear it to every baseball game I attend and everyone is always asking me about it.

If you have any insight into the origin and legacy of this jersey please let me know! It would be greatly appreciated.

    Happy New Year!

Assume there are no other markings on the uniform?

I'd start with confirmation that this style jersey was worn by the team and specific years that it was worn. Suspect the current A's museum folks would be able to help in that endeavor.

Looking at all "18" players in those years may be helpful.

Thanks Scott! No, there are no other markings on the jersey. :( I have been looking at all the other #18 guys in the late 50's and early 60's too. Billy Bryan is another possibility (6'4" 200lbs.)?

It seems that this exact "A" logo was only used in 1962 but I cannot find a sleeveless model. And the models that I can find also have the number on the lower right hand front of the jersey near the waist line. There are older sleeveless models but the A's do not match.

Maybe it was a Wilson prototype that was rejected by the team? A minor league team (I found it in Asheville, NC, but the Tourists never used an "A" for "Asheville")? Did they have fan apparel jerseys in the early 60's? The jersey is in excellent condition so it is old, but not "that old," which is why I have targeted it in the early 60's.
