    grand moule de confiseur - chocolatier en fer blanc, lapin de pâques. Début XXè.

    On retrouve les lapin de pâques en chocolat, principalement en Alsace-Lorraine, tandis que dans le reste de la France on trouve les cloches de pâques.

    "Le lapin de Pâques est une créature imaginaire qui, selon la tradition, distribue, la veille du matin de Pâques, une importante fête de la chrétienté, des « œufs de Pâques » colorés ou en chocolat. Ce messager est représenté par un lapin dans les régions anglophones (Easter Bunny en anglais), mais c'est généralement un lièvre qui assume cette mission dans les régions germanophones (Osterhase en allemand)."

      I have the front half of one of these rabbit molds. I purchased it from a favorite shop. Love seeing the different versions of this mold. Wish I could read French to learn more about them. Perhaps someone can translate. Thank you for sharing these and other finds.

      hi mareredware, i write here from my second CWacount this is my museumacount, and i'ma little bit timeless to translate the whole items.

      theses molds are typical from the east of france or also germany, the rabbit is like a messenger anouncing the easter fest. in the rest of france, the tradition is mostly with bells mould,not rabbits..... heritage of german culture in this part of france.

      somtimes molds are marked, so it help to identify the maker or the period.

      I just examined mine more closely. Made in Germany. #417 by the curve of his back and #16 close to his face. I'm posting a photo on my page.
