My Oil Lamp Collection

This is a portion of my oil lamp collection. I began collecting oil lamps after moving across America away from my grandma, this is when I started missing her. I remembered all the days we spent together as a young child in her home among her own lamps handed down to her from her grandmothers. We spent countless moments around the lamps when a storm was brewing and she'd have stories to tell us about when she grew up without electricity. The lamps just seem to warm up a home and heart and bring all those memories back to me. So I collect these log cabin types of lamps and I notice every one in all the old western movies as well. I'm hoping to find time to restore most of them so when Christmas comes around this year we can have the lamps lit in place of all the newer lights and hopefully we'll create an atmosphere of antiquity of Christmas of yesteryear and when people drive by they will hopefully feel the warmth of back then. I'm still learning about these lamps and when my girls are around during a stormy night I'll tell them the stories that my grandma told to me.
