Style is "Mary Gregory" many companies did this style in Bohemia in the late 1800s. Reproductions are still made today. I am sure that you piece is an original. Check the site below. Mark

      Deanteaks..... More info for you.

Your piece looks like it is light in weight, if so, that is another sign of old age. New pieces are sort of bulky looking and heavy for their size.

On newer glass, the art work is truly ugly. One author wrote that the faces on new Gregory look "animal" like. You piece has nice details not only in the face but the cloths have a nice 3 dimensional look. New glass does not.

You may also find what are called factory blems in old glass. Tiny bubbles, stretch marks, are common.

Wear on the bottom is a good indicator of age however, it depends on the type of piece. I would not expect to see a great deal (some) of wear on this pitcher as it was picked up, and then put down. It was not pushed along wood table tops. All of my cut glass is basically "wear" free especially my pitchers for the reason mentioned here.

This glass was also made in America during the time period mentioned above.

Google New Mary Gregory Glass Pictures and you should be able to tell the difference between new and old. mark
