In my continuing effort to bring clarity to the old Coca-Cola watch fobs, I submit "The Prize Winners". Acquired off an eBay bid auction for a paltry 10% book value.

Why so low? This item was reproduced in great number. And reproduced fairly well. Which ruins the market. But there are "tells" for the eager deal-seeker.

The authentic bulldogs fobs are silver or gold wash. Not "Sterling" as the fakes are stamped.

Surface should be smooth and relatively free of pock marks, which are a dead give away that the piece was poorly cast and finished.

Quality of raised surface is detailed on the originals vs. less so on the reproductions . There are two quick ways to identify fake bulldog fobs in this area: 1) No eyeballs 2) the 5 in 5¢ is broken at the top.

So, an example of patience and persistence paying off. I must have looked at 200 bulldog fob listings over the years.

This is another one I'm going to send Sir Kerry, a.k.a. The Wizard of Watches, when Hell Freezes Ov... I mean... someday. ;0)

On the authentic one, what does it say under the 5 cents?

Crisply maker marked "SCHWAAB MILWAUKEE". Repros have this mark as well, in varying legibility.

Mani, thanks, spent a little time researching as I've come across so many fakes and not much in the way of info out there. It adds a little bit more fun while collecting.
