Talk about old. I believe these to be possible 18th century pottery. I found a similar item on a larger scale on eBay and while back. It had the exact same English design, but have not been able to find these exact pair. I think the painting on them was hand done. Which I suspect if that old, stenciling would be out. There are several punchers throughout each piece which again I think is not necessarily damage, but the result of the time. What do you think? And, oh, I picked these up just in the nick of time. I had this sixth sense that another person was coming to get them, but they were already in my cart with a commitment to purchase. Just a feeling.

My gut feeling is same as yours. If I would come across something like this, certainly would buy it.
