I am going to pick this up next week. Been looking for an old roll top for awhile. Not sure of the history. All I know it was the mother in law of the person I bought it from.. Rough shape but I am sure I can bring it back to life.
Does anyone know anything about this desk. Year who made it..
In the 3rd picture it looks like there are slides was this a roll out something???

Please whatever anyone knows please share..

    Thank you

The 1st ones had interlocking slats. Didn't take long obviously before it was realized that it was much easier & cheaper to simply staple simple slates to canvas & achieve the same effect. I'm not an expert or follower, but know the interlocking ones are the early ones. Oddly, the stapled on canvass probably worked smoother over time because of slat warping. I'm really hoping to hear from somebody who is more knowledgeable about these to confirm or challenge my observations. I would like to learn more.
