    This is something else I found in an old junk box that I bought. I cannot figure out what they are. It looks to be mother of pearl shell on a metal tube which has a spring in it and you can push it out. They measure about 1" in length. If anyone can help me identify what these are used for I would appreciate it. Thank you!

      Buttons for tuxedo shirts. The starched type with a flat chest. Both left and right front of the shirt have holes and the pin goes through both.

      I guess they are usually called tuxedo studs rather than buttons.
