My husband received this when his grandmother passed away in 1979 and it was aged then. Any idea where it came from or its value? What I'm looking for is if possibly my father-in-law brought home from war? I added picture of bottom but it is hard to read.

The gold appears to be applied by spray and the red clay has me thinking, mid 20th century made for export.
