Wonderful domed black onyx or glass ring. Circa 1930's-50's, .75x1" I am leaning to onyx but not certain. Marked MEXICO TOBIAS round shape and then .925. There's a chip which can be seen in pic 2 lower left. I think it could be buffed out -the white spot in pic is just this photographer's error :)
Bonnie found a similar ring on etsy by artist Abraham Tobias. It has the exact same shank design. The seller said it was a rare 1930's ring. Maybe mine is that old and has travelled far and well with only a chip. Also from online research learned that Tobias didn't often work with stones and is famous for his repouse work.
Very dramatic ring. I wear it a lot.
Thanks for first like Blunderbuss!
That is so striking! If I saw it on a finger I would have to comment (positively of course).
Which finger, Racer? ;-D
Valentino, superb!!!
Whichever works best at the time....
Hi Karen and Kyra - this ugly hand is for you. Where is that edit tool that smoothes away wrinkles? LOL Sometimes I wear all 3 like this. Will post those other 2 later. The black carved coral X is my favorite of my Mexico rings, and maybe only from the 90's and the pinky ring is Native American, maybe Navajo.
Great pic! Love them all, fingers included ;-)
I can imagine you getting on a bus with all your pins, bangles and causing quite a stir as you entered !!
That would be Abraham Tobias. :-)
Thanks Kyra - wrinkly fingers even? They look better in real life, hee hee! However, sad to realize lots of my rings will be too small eventually...oh well, not today! I wear them on both hands when we go hear live music and I have a long drapey sleeve. Excess looks best at the club - holding that glass of wine....
Thanks Phil! Bus, train, car, walking to my neighborhood café!? Airplane - darn it no because of TSA. Yes, it's fun to wear them and they do get comments.
Bonnie thank you! I will look at the etsy and rubylane posts and then edit my post. Thanks for finding this information! Big Kiss!
Love it, Mary!
I like bangles and bracelets because they always fit. I find that rings sometimes bother me becuase my fingers seem to change size: sometimes rings fall off and sometimes they don't come off. I still wear them:)
Hi Gudrun - I agree about rings. I wear bracelets and pins most.
