One of my favorite applied vases with applied motifs. The vase has a bulbous tapered shape and is blown of cased glass. The white opaque interior colour does react under UV light. Exterior colour is apricot spreading to a light shade of pink. The rim is crimped and a has ribbon of amber glass along the edge.
Of the applied motifs, there is an amber vine with pinched thorns that wraps entirely around the vase. Large applied prunts with stamped leaves and flowers are of amber coloured glass with splashes of ruby red frit. There are also applied clusters of boysenberries in amber glass. The three, amber claw-type feet are cut and polished on the bottom.
Polished pontil on the vase.
Not marked. Harrach, or other glasshutte from 1885-1900.
Heavy in weight and vase is a substantial size.
7" diameter rim.
8" wide at best.
Footed base is 5" diameter.
