My father in law's mother passed away years ago. While cleaning out her basement we found a box of elephant figurines.

My father in law thinks this elephant is possibly made from onyx.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

      Yes, onyx.

      Thank you for the response.

After a closer look, the tusk seem to have toothpicks that attach them to the face.

      Is that typical?

Not sure they are toothpicks, but are used to help keep the tusks in place - extra security, I imagine.

That is what I meant. The toothpicks are used to keep the tusks in place.

This particular elephant seems a bit more unique. When I lookup onyx elephants, the majority of the figurines are one piece.

      The tusks above are different.

I honestly do not know if that makes it unique or not..
