This Kraft Velveeta Cheese box came with an offer for a 125 piece Lego set for only $1.00. That includes shipping and handling.
An online seller is estimating this at 1973 but there is no date on the box or offer. Seems a bit earlier to me but not much earlier.
I am not thinking Lego would honor the coupon now.

Don't know why ~ not really the same thing ~ but this just reminded me of the free toys that came in cereal boxes. Remember that??? I remember emptying the cereal out of the boxes into a big bowl to get at the toys before my brothers ~ the toys were always at the bottom of the boxes ~ and then putting the cereal back into the boxes! [;>)

LOL I don't think Velveeta imagined that any of those coupons would still be around in 2016!

I agree it is earlier. Probably mid 60s as the lego logo looks like the pre 1972 logo.

Thank you very much NevadaBlades. The toys that came with cereal were great. I have a bunch of Winnie the Pooh spoon hangers. We were always saving box tops for the mail away items.

Thank you very much Efesgirl. I have a feeling they did not.

And thank you very much elanski. That seller was just taking a wild guess as many do.

Thanks Signaholic. Looks like Lego got the last laugh on that one.

There is no expiration date on the coupon. I have a set of Lincoln Logs but no Tinker Toys yet.
I was never all that skilled with them or rector sets.

Thank you very much Thomas. I was going to try and build something with my Erector set but a look at all those small pieces and I don't think so.
      Interesting about Legos.
