This little lady was given to me by my mother. She had a pen pal in the 1950's and they exchanged dolls with each other. She stands about 10 inches tall. Any information would be fun to learn.

The first thing is Japanese ... the second term is 'Kokeshi'.

Does the head on this one move or tilt?
    3. Gampe2660, 8 years ago
Her head is tilted and a little wobbly but I'm afraid to mess with it too much I don't want to break it.

The head is meant to move. I'm sure some of the others will have more to say about her.

Hi Gampe, I have seen this beautiful Kokeshi sold and listed as being by Tomegoro, at Kaino hot springs in Japan. I do not know anything more about this artist. Regards -Soul

I have a similar one and believe it represents a “Mai dancer”.
