      Sorry for the news, but here goes... We have all learned this lesson at some point.....

      For starters, the Loetz signature on this is spurious. It is not Loetz production. The fact that this example has both a polished pontil and a cut and polished rim also indicates that the piece has been damaged and repaired. The complete rim, in this case, is missing.

      The glass has been attributed to Kralik in the past, although I am not 100% sure that is accurate. Here is a link to what the shape of the piece wold have looked like before it was repaired.

      The shape is pleasing, even cut down..... so not a total loss.... and a good lesson...

      My daughter will be disappointed that she will have to drive a Kia instead of the Mercedes she was going to buy when she sold that vase in 20 years.
