Purchased recently at a tag sale, seller told me it was found in the basement tucked on top of a beam in an early house here in Connecticut. It was filthy. It is 6" tall, my concern about it being correct or not is that it is glazed on the bottom, I don't know enough about period pottery to know if that is common or not though checking some of the early crocks and storage jars that I have a couple do have glazed bottoms. I would love some feedback on this piece!

Have you investigated Anna Pottery in Anna Ohio?
Google that. There is an expert on this whole genre of salt glazed pottery.

Might also check with Crocker Farms. They’re good about authenticating salt glazed stoneware.

Yes they are very knowledgeable. I helped a relative with a flask and referred her there. It wound up being Hot Springs artist who learned at the Anna Pottery shop. Crocker sold for her.
