I had this knife for about 3 weeks now, unable to determine who might have made it, no markings anywhere.
Some wear on blade, heavy piece.

I see what looks like marks in the third photo - quite worn but still looks like lettering to me.
Efesgirl, I don't see it.
have you tried lightly sanding the mark ? sometimes old marks will begin to appear when the build up is removed. nice knife. probably 50s model Germany.
that's totally a wild guess. japan made some of the same types of knives during that time. so did others, but there were a ton of german cutlers leading the way.
The marks you show in detail are corrosion and are on the wrong side of the blade. The mark side, as in picture #1, appears blank. This knife has all the earmarks of the work of Gutmann Cutlery. They were a US importer in business from the late 1940s thru the 1990s. They imported some brands (most importantly Puma) and had knives with their name (Gutmann, and G.C.C.) made on contract in Germany, Italy, and Japan. Their German knives look exactly like yours in every detail and it would not be a stretch to believe that, prior to 1964, they imported unmarked knives as well.
I was thinking edge brand, ron, they were in very close relations with gcc co. some times, sheaths were sold using the edge brand logo for gcc knives , and vice versa.
also sabre, Germany and japan made very similar knives to this .. a long with the American knife co. importer from Germany. there were tons of them.
I was looking at a few pics of these type knives. I seen a few edge brands very similar with the orange and red spacers. that's the only thing that pointed me in that direction.
whyatt and Ron, you guys are good. I'm going to try and do some cleaning of the knife blade, I guess with 000 steel wool and WD-40 ?

Hi billy, I was just scrolling thru some knifes and came across this one. Yesterday I bought the same knife, I bought it with a knife holder from some guy on a market (I live in the Netherlands btw). On the blade itself it says "Stainless China" and on the holder is a logo. On the logo you can see a horse and again under it it says "China". And im trying to figure iut ehere the knife came from to. I hope this info was usefull.

im not doubting huey 420s reply, but if your knife is @ 12 ins long with about a 71/8 in. blade, then its a gc co knife. that's with a really hi degree of certainty.
china, I don't think so.
started not to reply again, but the mystery is pretty much solved if its a 12 in. knife. and its not made in china.
either way. collectors will tell you, an unmarked knife has no value. that's the said part. otherwise its a GRRREAT knife. no one actually knows for sure, but that's what im seeing. the exact knife pending its length.
