One of my sons found this military uniform button while playing in a woody area near our quarters when I was stationed at the "Presidio of San Francisco" in 1984. I have not been able to identify or relate it to a time period or a branch of military???

Agree with chris-- hard fought unit in the Indian Wars of the late 19th century. Several MOH soldiers from that troop.
