    I purchased this desk at auction with no history, I'm curious if anyone knows anything. The ISC1791 is on the inside of the left legs and the plaque is on the left side.

      Cool! From what I've read that office only existed 1940-43, within Roosevelt's executive office. Wonder who 9-5740 was...

      ...there are of course other "offices for emergency management", but you can always hope for the best!

      There are many local "Office OF emergency mgt", but really only one "Office FOR emergency mgt" with that old formal wording. The style is 1940's as well.
