Living so close to Germany means I practically drown in salt glazed pottery. Most of it is the run-of-the-mill stuff. I don't own or collect salt glazed pottery, but this piece stopped me right in my tracks. This is the most gorgeous example of salt glazed pottery I've seen to date. And, it's a signed piece - potter is M. Schmidt. I don't yet know when this was made. I didn't find another one like this on the web.
Someone must have just put it out last Saturday or today, because the price sticker didn't have time to weld itself to the glaze.

Nevada - this bread bin here would sell for about $70.00 because of the detail.
I found another example of this potter's work - a large jug, and BOY is it beautiful!
