This is a vase for which I have very strong feelings. Some who know me also know that I have been trying to obtain a good example of the decor, meaning good condition and interesting form, and this has both. Without going into detail, I have had close ones that fell through my fingers for whatever reason, but perhaps that reason is that I was meant to have this one.

7 5/8" tall, great iridescence both on the green drips portion and the underlying blue silberiris Rusticana portion. Polished pontil/fire-polished rim, the Production Number appears in Series II by Jitka Llenickova, as well as in Ricke band 2. Series II, PN 519 from 1900, and Creta mit Behängen is a listed decor for this number.

As I have commented to some, this is the "cherry on top" of my collection, my "white whale" of sorts. It is a rather simple decor, green, uninteresting to some. It is actually not all that rare, but what is rare is having someone part with one. Collectors with sizable Loetz collections who want one, have one, but they seldom let go of them. When I began collecting about 15 years ago, they were more common on eBay, but at the time even the $300 they normally brought was outside the reach of a new collector, and later when the means and desire were there, the vases were not.

Worth the wait, Dave - that's the finest one I have ever seen. Congratulations! Very happy you were finally able to fill this spot in your collection.

This piece is spectacular - the drips, shape, iridescence, the entire package. See Loetz.com for the CmB thumbnail. Definitely a standard for this decor. Congratulations!

Blood, sweat and tears do cause the serious collector to chase that is of our desire. And sometimes when it arrives we feel flat as the thrill of the chase is gone.
We make some decisions that at the time felt right to do, as we are good humanitarians. But we learn too from our mistakes and hopefully will never do it again. Sometimes we do. :) But we know you made them for the right reasons....

And that is just a stunning vase...a well deserved profile photo....

You spoken to me and others about your collecting passions. I wish after hearing everything you told me that you could go back in time and change what has been etched in to the annals of history and the time space continuum. But you can't. None of us can. But we can fix it. We can keep the faith in the choiced we made though. Some good, some horrendous but mainly great. And we can learn. We can tell our friends and families of the continuing desires you have, for them to also share....
Be proud of what you've done til today. Be prouder of what you will be able to do post tomorrow.
And we learn, well they tell us we learn. But boy it can be so harsh and unfair. Your exposé's are hard to read at times for their honesty and pain... But look what you've done...just look at what you've accomplished and the respect you've obtained from your peers and students. You are held in the highest of high. The two of you in my eyes, Alfredo and you; great Masters of our time. Talented writers and mentors of great glass.... :)
