This had been lazing around Salvation Army for a few weeks so I figured half price Wednesday was a good time to pick it up. I think the colorful cubist style is very well painted. I was pondering whether it was a real painting of just a clever reproduction. The paint brush strokes feel and look real enough even under magnification. I removed the black dust paper and found the name Kieffer written on the panel. There is no signature on the front that I could see. The quality of the framing is very professional. The painting itself is a Masonite panel which is mounted into a very well made wood and linen matte, which is then mounted into the frame. The wood and joinery are all quality along with the attaching hardware and hanging wire. I checked online with the few art sites I have book marked and there are a lot of Kieffers' but without a first name it's going to be hard to pin down the exact artist. All that aside this is a really nice work of art. -Mike-

It's another possibility Dave. I don't think there was a Karen listed on Askart's site. I'll have to check into that..Thanks so much :)

That Karen Kieffer signs her works KK, now. But that could be an early piece. She seems to like those colors, anyway.

I would not have thought this was by Karen Kieffer, the work looks different, more complex, but as Celiene says it could be an earlier work. Good luck with contact, Mike. :)

Thanks Katherine :)....I had been wondering as well . The bulk of her work shown on Etsy uses an encaustic (wax) technique and are rather small in size. Of course anything is possible. maybe this was from her student days.
