This is a miniature basket made by a member of the Coushatta tribe, it measures one inch and a quarter in height and an inch and a half in diameter at the center of the basket. It is made of Pine Needles wrapped and decorated with dyed Raffia, and this one looks to have been made by a master basket maker.

Based on the colors on this basket, I would date this to around 1940 to 1950. It was well taken care of, and kept out of sunlight which is how it stayed so nice for the last 70 years. And while it is not as old as the baskets I usually collect, the miniature basket collector in me said I had to have it :)
