    (732 items)

When I bought these for $13 online I thought they were cheap to be used in my designs. NO way. This strand is so gorgeous and has to stay as is. The seller listed them as "vintage" but I assume they fairly new altho I haven't found another strand. Maybe this isn't a rare item but here in US - it is because I've looked at swaps, bead stores and GemFaire - nothing. I imagine Diana Vreeland or Iris Arpel buying these, layering them - wearing 3 or more. I'm sure this necklace would appeal to their style. Well....when I'm 70 it might be okay.

Anyway - rare or not? Comments welcome because the seller didn't answer my questions. The necklace is 22" long and the largest bead is .75" wide.

I really do like this necklace! I'd wear it tomorrow, but my arms won't reach to your house....

      LOL!
    2. valentino97 valentino97, 5 years ago
Thanks Bonnie - yes, I love it and would wear it - only meant that I wouldn't wear 3 or more at a time.....LOL, maybe someday I would! Too bad you are so far away, we could sit together with our wampum and make some trades. XOXO
    3. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 5 years ago
Hahaha! I've got enough wampum to open my own shop....
    4. valentino97 valentino97, 5 years ago
Yes, me too about the wampum. It overwhelms me at times and I have anxiety attacks when I think of my hoard. Why do I keep buying? plus you haven't seen my jewelry designs - at least the same or more items that I've posted to CW. I have to get serious and get rid of some things. Oh boy. We could sit on my patio and do some trades....

I'm looking for that Holy Grail of jewelry, which I seem to think is just around the next corner...at the next flea market....or the next time I hit the thrift shops!
    6. valentino97 valentino97, 5 years ago
I love your mission Bonnie. You have so much energy!
    7. mikelv85 mikelv85, 5 years ago
I'm with you guys...I've been trying for 3 years to find my grail. Maybe tomorrow or the next day...or the next day...or the next day...lol :)
    8. kyratango kyratango, 5 years ago
Oh, love your necklace, and the idea of sitting together, trading wampums, smoking and drinking fire water (!!!!!)... ;-D

Always on the track of the Holly Grail, which seems often to be the next piece in the next booth or Ebay page, lol!

Ok, I know I say goofy things sometimes (doh)_ BUT...here's my thought on it. (I am so embarrassed about my post)

Anyway, that looks like squaw wrap to me and very professionally done at that. What makes you believe the stones are glass? It's hard to tell from here so if you have a jeweler around, even at a pawn shop, have them test it if their tester will read gemstones, turquoise gemstones in particular. If that is what they are, you got much luckier than you think! I'm pretty sure that's what you have here. Red turquoise. Let us know, k? xoxo

Accept me into your circle guys, I'm a hoarder too ;)
By the way I found very similar necklace, only a wrap colour is different :

I'm not saying your beads are artificial, who knows it might be real. But the type of the wrap is same.

Why am I the only one thinking this could be some sort of (sponge?) coral? Could be colored...its a nice necklace, but I think I have seen them here in Belgium beiing sold on some flea markets...usually on some stnads wi african beads and stuff.

I'm so excited about these wonderful comments!! Thanks Mike for saying what we all think - the Holy Grail is still out there somewhere! And the search is most important? but the damn Holy Grail would be good too.
    14. valentino97 valentino97, 5 years ago
Kyra - yes, I love the idea of us CW friends sitting together trading, smoking, drinking, making some peace treaties (ha ha!) I know I've said this before but I don't look in anyone's shopping cart. I really believe there is enough for all of us and when I see what I didn't get....well, I don't like that side of me. I am not an envious hoarder. I always feel lucky when I find my gems and just stop right there before "I wish I had"....

Thank you Share! This is glass, no doubt. You can't see but there's a beautiful lip on every bead where the glass has been swirled to its finish. And sadly the first bead at the squaw wrap is chipped - glass. I should have said that in my description.

Wouldn't that be something if I had a real red coral necklace (Holy Grail)!!

Thanks Phil - I Love It. One of those items that you know you'll have forever. Love to you too!

Martika you are most welcome into the Hoarder Holy Grail Circle - LOL. Thank you for that link. I know mine are glass or ceramic - why don't they say the beads are glass? It's okay they aren't coral. I would be upset if they dissolved into a mess of marzipan or salt...
    20. valentino97 valentino97, 5 years ago
Newtimes - Not sponge coral. Just some pretty glass or ceramic beads that I think are really darn nice.

Great attitude about "I wish I had", val! I'm with you!

SaulsoGallery - I am sorry that I offended you. I'm sure there are lots of typos in my posts. Meager not merger? My apologies. I feel terrible for the gaff (is that right?)

Thanks davy for your nice comment on my "I wish I had" philosophy.
    27. Elisabethan Elisabethan, 5 years ago
Wonderful Val! I also want to join the club but I'm not sure I have enough to be classified as a jewelry "horder" but I'm getting there, but it's my addiction and I'm glad :). When other things in life feel heavy like an Ingmar Bergman film it's wonderful to have your mind on jewelry. Don't you agree? I need to get back to CW, I feel it now....

You are fortunate!! LOL, it's too overwhelming...yet, I'm watching a pin right now on ebay. Please start posting again my friend!
