This is a recent find, a Mexican hinged bangle with what I believe to be faux turquoise. It is rather solid and weights 38 grams. It needs a good cleaning; I haven't had a chance yet:(

I think it is not old at all, but I got it because it appears to be very well made.

    Thanks for looking:)

Nice quality, but yes - I think it's from 80's or 90's. I remember seeing these when I lived in San Diego and visited Tijuana then. This tailored style was popular and I remember black onyx, lapis, malachite examples too.

Val, you lived in San Diego back in the 80s and 90s? What part of the county? It's nice to meet someone from my hometown. :)

Hi Katherine, I lived in San Diego from 1985 until 1999. I lived in Pacific Beach, Loma Portal, Wind N Sea, and my favorites were Golden Hill and North Park - 2 old cool apartments I dearly loved and really loved those neighborhoods. And - single gal by the way. Where did you live? I love San Diego but was laid off from big - supposedly stable companies - 3 times - UGH! so I moved up to LA in 1999. I love it here in Long Beach - live in an old 1920's bldg. Would love to compare San Diego stories :-)

Thanks for your comment, Mary. I figured it wasn't that old because of the registration number. It is very high. I bought it anyway because it is well made and very solid. And solid is good for me because I always break or damage my jewelry - LOL
      Interesting to read about California!

Gudrun, it is nice quality and should wear well! Now you might have to look for the other colors too. Going to post an onyx bracelet, same time frame....

Katherine - yes - some good single gal livin in SD collecting junk stories....(etc). Sadly, I was never very wild.

Thanks, Mary. Just what I needed: Another reason to collect more - LOL
I would love to see yours:) I have one with onyx too but the construction is a bit different.
      And katherinescollections: I agree:)
